CASE STUDY:
DomiNations dream opening VFX
The challenge:
I was approached with 3 sequences of RED footage filmed against a green screen. There were only basic concepts in place: WW2 setting, Egyptian setting, and a Napoleon theme with no initial idea on what should actually be in that scene. Armed with only this information, I developed a plan of attack for the client that encompassed fleshed out conceptualization, easy utilization of 3D scene assets, and a finalization workflow through After Effects and Davinci Resolve.
What I did:
Introduced the client to various resources for high-quality 3D assets.
Expanded upon the basic concepts for the WW2 and Egypt scenes.
Conceptualized the Napoleon scene via an iterative process.

Compositing
With a good supply of AOV layers out of my 3D software (Cinema 4D/Redshift) I followed a linear compositing workflow in After Effects, with a final sweep of touch-ups in Davinci Resolve.
Wardrobe malfunction
The work behind the Cleopatra shot included correction of a wardrobe malfunction via a paint-out and interpolation process.
